Lumiere brothers

https://www.preceden.com/timelines/494800-marija Lumiere Brothers are considered to be the fathers of documentaries. Their earliest work is something like a poetic documentary mode. Although their moving images might not have been the most interesting, the music used over them makes them way more watchable.  from this research, I have gained useful information for an exam question, as well as looked at some of the first documentaries and picked out the ideas which I could potentially use in my own piece.

Audience research on documentaries

Image
https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_kwxMX0g=/ I have conducted a questionnaire about people's opinions on different aspects of documentaries. It showed me that people do enjoy watching documentaries. A lot of younger people (ages 10) enjoy watching historical and travel documentaries which surprised me because I thought that they would be more into video games. Teens and young adults really enjoyed eco-living, criminal and psychological documentaries. The older generations preferred to watch historical and food/travel documentaries. This exercise allowed me to get a deeper understanding of what people enjoy, which can be added to ideas for my documentary.

A new start of my advanced portfolio.

~Hello and welcome to me new yr13 advanced portfolio. This year I will be focusing on documentaries, especially nature and climate change as that's what I want my documentary to be about. Throughout these blogs, you will be able to see my process and updates. Hopefully, that will lead me to a good final outcome.  Stay tuned~
