Voice of god script

Image
I have decided to use a male character voice as it gives the text more power and demand as the male voice is deeper. The start:  The current temperature is rising faster than ever. Our summers and winters are getting warmer. Cities are sinking as the weather is getting more drastic. Average wild life population has dropped by 60 percent. There's more CO2 in atmosphere than any time in the history. 120000 square kilometers of tropical forests were lost in wild fires in 2018. Do you think the climate change is real? Do you think we need to change? Is it too late?

Interview update

Image
During my filming with Miss Allan, she introduced me to her co-worker Shawn. He now works with the Ellesmere mere protection group, but previously he worked in the Antarctic collecting samples to help improve with the CO2 levels in the air.  During the interview, he answered questions about whether he thinks climate change is real and what does he do to impact it.  During the same day, I got an interview with a volunteer worker at the mere and some of the student from green-team. It will have good contrast in my documentary as if will show the diversity between same-minded people,  but different age groups.

Diary update

As I have started my process of filming I have noticed some small details that I need to take in hand. One of the things is looking at narration. Because my documentary is made in the poetic mode, it doesn't really talk by itself. That's why I decided to try out some voice of God actors. Now I need to decide on which gender to use.  A thing that I failed at was some of the footage I took back home got resized and don't fit in with the rest of the footage. However, I did manage to get some drone shots as well as aeroplane shots which add a good camera angle. This weeks plan is to go to miss Allan and film her working so I can have some background footage to use during her interview.  This is some raw footage that got resized.   This is the drone raw footage.

Filming process update

Image
After my audience feedback, someone suggested to me that I might use R. Flaherty's technique of recreating some scene to get a better perspective of the shot. What I did was take a bag of trash full of glass and plastic bottles and some other rubbish and I spread them around to create a realistic scene. This allowed me to show people a better insight.

First draft of making a movie poster

Image
This is my first draft of trying to make my documentary poster. I have chosen to draw and illustrate the earth that is on fire which suggests the documentaries name. I've also thought about how can I improve this. Because I won't be able to take an actual photo of the earth on fire I will have it drawn, however, I think that the background might be an extream longshot of some trees and the horizons.

Climate change strike

Image
After I have read the book abut Greta, I was really motivated to join one of the movements to fight climate change.  I joined hundreds of people to walk in the city centre to try and grab the attention of other people as well as the mayor. I've also got a chance to talk to like-minded people and to get an insight into their views on what's happening around the world.  The negative outcome of this trip was that we weren't allowed to film because of the mayor, however, I will try to join another movement and get some footage from there.

Book review

Image
As I was trying to gather more knowledge about my documentary topic, I came upon the book Greta Thunberg- no one is too small to make a difference.  This book gave me a deep insight into what she is trying to achieve and how she's doing it.  I especially liked this book because it is written in such a form, where the words you read come out of the book and gather as an image. This gave me a lot of ideas for editing as well as filming shots for my documentary. After reading the book I've also looked at some of her interviews and speeches. She makes some really good points which I decided to add to my documentary.
